Keane may retire
A long standing hip problem threatens to cut Roy Keane's Celtic career short.

Roy Keane has revealed that a hip problem might cause him to rethink his career, to the extent that this season might be his last.

The long standing injury, which lead to an operation in 2002, has hung over Keane's career for the last few years.

"Since having the surgery in 2002 I have regarded every season as a bonus but I have got to look at the long-term side of it and see what is best for me and my family,"

Keane's contract at Celtic is for 18 months: "When I signed for Celtic I did say it would be best to maybe look at things in the summer. They were keen for me to sign for the extra year, which I did. I will see how my hip is bearing up in the summer."

A retirement could bring about an accelerated entry into management. His old manager at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, recently said "Roy will go on to be a manager, there is no question about that. He is very driven, a great influence and very determined.

"He was fantastic to me, the best player I had, but I now see him going on to the next stage in his career and that is becoming a manager."
