Help I'm suffering here!!
Some people just don't know what FOOTBALL really is

Hi there Football Fans

Right now I'm down under in Australia visiting the wife's relatives. I've just watched the Melbourne Grand Prix and seen Jenson Button blow up just yards from the finish line, so I thought I'd check out the footie news in the local paper.


And here's the rub! Football over here isn't like football in the rest of the world - it's played with a rugby ball by blokes wearing vests!


A chat with the locals involves talking about the Hawks, the Bombers, the Dockers or the Crows! Apparently the game that we all worship is called Soccer. It would seem that Australia is closer to America when it comes to sport, preferring a bastardised version of rugby - though they like that game too, most confusing!


No wonder Australia took so long to get to the World Cup!


Help me please. Keep those match reports coming in. I'm suffering a football drought here!
