Wenger favours youngsters
Arsene Wenger picked a younger side for the Carling Cup tie and the results were impressive.

Arsene Wenger's interview after the win against Sunderland in the Carling Cup:

"We always had the chance of playing good football even when we lacked offensive maturity. The boys' performance on the pitch made me very happy and they showed they can handle the big crowd and a team completely committed."

Wenger was asked whether Arsenal will be able to win the Premiership this season and his reply was "I can say that we have a good basis and we can win the matches in the Premiership although our defence is not as strong as it was in the last season. Our talented boys showed what they are able to do tonight."

"Song and Muamba are very young and very strong. One is eighteen-and-a-half and the other is seventeen-and-a-half. They were extremely well. I hope they will be doing much better in the upcoming challenges."

"When Reyes and Ljungberg comes back, we will have a good challenge here. Robin's performance makes me think that he is improving and he looks very strong and mature. It was really a great performance. I have not seen Robin van Persie that strong for a long time. His main problem was physical adaptation at first but he recovered this quickly and now he is as physical as he was in Holland."
