Striker up for grabs!!
Mikael Forssell says he may consider a future away from Birmingham if he cannot claim a regular first-team spot.
Mikael Forssell says he may consider a future away from Birmingham if he cannot claim a regular first-team spot.
The striker, 25, has slipped down the pecking order with DJ Campbell and Nicklas Bendtner becoming first choice.
He said: "I'm ready to play, I'm ready to fight, I want to show everyone. When that isn't happening, any player would say he then has to look somewhere else.
"Long term I can't speak too much about it but obviously I am thinking 'why am I here?'"
Even summer signing Cameron Jerome was preferred to Forssell when Bendtner was suspended for Saturday's 2-2 draw with Ipswich.
The former Chelsea striker was a late substitute against Ipswich but had not come off the bench during the previous three matches.
Birmingham boss Bruce has indicated his wish to have four strikers competing for two places after being short of reinforcements in attack last season.
But Forssell, who was a target for Blackburn before the transfer window closed, added: "It is very frustrating for me, I haven't played for weeks.
"Sometimes in football you don't agree to every decision. You just have to react to that and do your best and hope things change. But it is very frustrating for me at the moment.
"It is difficult to keep training, get in for one game, and then keep that match fitness.
"In football everything can change very quickly. That is just what I have got to look for. If it doesn't, then I am sure the club will try to do something in January or after the season
