Will Souness be at Newcastle in the summer?
Is Shepherd just killing time????

Here’s a funny thing, did Freddie Shepherd send a text to Eriksson? didn’t send Eriksson a text, but at football4real we feel he should do.

Shepherd claimed that:-

"I must have amnesia as I can't remember sending a text message to Mr Eriksson.

"I don't even have his number so I'd love to see this message."

Eriksson stands down as England boss after the World Cup and the News of the World claimed his agent Athole Still had been contacted by Shepherd.

Eriksson is free to talk to available parties as part of his departure deal agreed with Football Association chief executive Brian Barwick.

But Shepherd added: "All I can say is that I'd like to wish Mr Eriksson well with England in the summer and good luck for whatever he chooses to do after that." Nudge nudge wink, wink.

Newcastle's current boss Souness has been not unfairly criticised over his side's poor form this season. He’s spent the money and frankly does not seem up too the job, maybe the Swede would do a better job. Who else is there?

Though Shepherd denies the approach, this would tie in with other reports this week that Souness was staying, because there was no one better, immediately available to take his place. It makes sense also from a financial stand point, Souness will not quit and Newcastle will need to pay his wages regardless so why sack him now and pay him anyway? Newcastle will not go down, they can not now win anything either, so why not have the club tick over till the summer?

If Souness was to still be at the club in the summer he would be spending on defenders now!!!!!!.....

The absence of new signings this January speaks volumes.
