Ron Greenwood 1921-2006
Former West ham and England Manager dies aged 84

A minute's silence will be observed at West Ham's home game against Birmingham on Monday in tribute to the former England manager Ron Greenwood who has died aged 84.

Greenwood was in charge at Upton Park from 1961-1974.

As such he had a big influence on England's 1966 World Cup winners, with West Ham supplying three of the team - the captain Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters.

Greenwood took over as England manager after Don Revie left and took the National team to the 1980 European Championship and the 1982 World Cup.
