THOMAS WILSON FC BACK TO ATTACKING BEST

The Thomas Wilson got back to winning ways in a nine goal thriller at The Angel of the North.

The Wilson took the lead when David Dixon’s low cross was turned into his own net by a backtracking Greencroft defender. Within minutes the score was level, with a fine headed goal from a corner. The Greencroft had the chance to take the lead, but Wilson keeper Derek “Safe Hands” Hanvey made a fine save from a penalty. The Wilson mounted some heavy pressure, hitting the crossbar 3 times, with Coates, Rumney and Dixon all unlucky, before Brett Hogan bravely headed home to make it 2 – 1 at the break.

In the second half the Greencroft equalized from close range following confusion in the Wilson defence, before Boyles through ball allowed Woody Rumney the slot home to restore the lead. A superb free kick from Dixon increased the lead, and then full back Keith Minikin rifled in from 25 yards. Sub Andy McSloy scored his first goal since transferring from the Riverside, finishing from a corner to make it 6-2, before a thumping volley reduced the arrears to 6-3.
