KINGFISHER 0 OLD UPMINSTER HAMMERING 3
ST PIER RISES TO THE CHALLENGE OF THE KINGFISHER ATTACK TO SEE OUH THROUGH
On a frosty Sunday morning Old Upminster Hammering arrived at Kingfisher ground with great expectancy only to learn that there star forward Mallett was due to miss the game with a broken nose at training. After there initial leage meeting ended 0-0 this was going to prove a tough match which had to be resolved.
OUH started the game brightly, with Griffiths and Allen pressurising the Kingfisher back three. Johal and Dunkley were menacing on the wings whilst the trio of Gordon, Anastasi and D.Reed showed aggression and fight in the centre of the park.
OUH were creating a few chances but Kingfisher soaked up the pressure well. Finally OUH were awarded a corner, Dunkley swung the ball in just missing the diving header of Allen.
Johal then managed to squirm his way into the box beating three players only to smack his effort against the crossbar.
OUH were coping well with the Kingfisher frontline, Brookes and Robinson alongside St Pier were proving to be outstanding.
As the game came to a close OUH went off the pitch wondering how they hadn't managed to score.
As the team's came out for the second half OUH knew they needed to raise their game, Brookes was replaced by S.Reed and St Pier moved into centre half.
As the game went on OUH went in search of the goal they needed to take them through, Dunkley found room on the edge of the box only to drive the ball over.
Moments later a fracas broke out between a Kingfisher player and OUH which ended in the Kingfisher player being sent off.
OUH now had a better opportunity to win the game, Dunkley again found himself in a similar position but once again drove the ball over.
Then the Kingfisher keeper pulled off a death defying save with his feet when a shot from Johal seemed goal bound.
As the game came to a close both teams looked settled for extra time.
OUH manager must have said some influential things during the period as OUH came out firing. Griffiths found room on the edge of the box and slotted the ball home past the Kingfisher keeper.
Seconds later Johal turned and spun round three kingfisher players before slotting the ball home at the acutest angle.
Johal then fed Allen, with his sublimial skills he threaded the ball past the defender and coolly slotted the ball home OUH had the lead, three goals in an amazing 10 minutes.
Then Allen showed some amazing control on the Kingfisher Goal line he managed to keep the ball in play with his bum cheeks, and then play a pass to his own player.
Allen was then replaced by Hind and D.Reed was replaced by Poet.
Hind found some room and thread the ball to Anastasi who instantly played it back only for Hind to be tackled.
Poet found some room in front of goal but took one touch too much and the keeper managed to save.
Kingfisher then drove a fantastic effort at the OUH goal, Campbell (Flying Pig) managed to leap like a salmon and push the ball over the bar.
The whistle blew and OUH reached the semi final.
Team: Campbell, St Pier, Brookes, Robinson, Dunkley, Gordon, Anastasi, Reed D, Johal, Griffiths, Allen Subs: Hind, Reed S, Poet
