Middlesbrough 4 Manchester United 1
Man United are thrashed in a "shocking" defeat to Steve Mclaren's Middlesbrough.

Sitting in our comfy armchair, Football4Real could hardly believe what we were seeing - a Manchester United side completely dominated and humilated, and Sir Alex Ferguson looking totally dumbfounded.

Just two minutes into the match and Gaizka Mendieta's powerful 25 yard shot whipped into the back of the net as Edwin van der Sar literally let the ball slip through his fingers.

Mendieta had a hand in the next goal as he put a long ball into the area. A terrible hesitation from Rio Ferdinand allowed Hasselbaink to blast home Middlesbrough's second.

Sir Alex shifted around the Man Utd defence and for a while they were in the ascendence. But just before half-time their position was made even worse.

Richardson was adjudged to have brought down Parnby as he raced down the right-hand side of the area. After consulting with the linesman, the Referee pointed to the spot. Van der Sar and Ferdinand protested fiercely to no avail, and from the Football4Real armchair we couldn't really see anything to protest about - if you pull a player down by grabbing his shirt then it's going to be a penalty! Yakubu slotted Boro's third into the net.

In the second half Man Utd had the lion's share of the posession, but failed to break Middlesbrough's defence with Boro looking very dangerous on the break.

Indeed, Yakubu went on to set up Boro's fourth as he pulled the ball back for Mendieta to smash home his second.

A consolation goal from Ronaldo was only really important as it notched up Man Utd's 1000th Premiership goal.

As speculation mounts about who will be the first Premiership manager to go, Football4Real wonders if it could be Sir Alex Ferguson?

Incidently, we looked for a picture of Mendieta and found this picture of Stephanie Mendieta, and decided that she looked much nicer!
