Nottingham Forest 5 Yeading 0
Nottingham Forest cruised through to the next round of the FA Cup with a convincing win over a determined Yeading side.

It was an uninspiring first half of football in front of a small crowd but in the end a hat-trick from Kris Commons made it a comfortable lead for Forest going in at half time.

Forest looked much more determined going forward in the second half and quickly extended their lead with a penalty. And when they added a fifth the game was over for Yeading.

Forest were awarded a free kick in the second minute of the game when Darti Brown collided with Gary Holt's head on the edge of the D but Nicky Southall's shot went straight into the wall.
It didn't go all Forest's way in the early stages, with Yeading pushing forward, and the first effort on target was from Marvin Morgan, but it was a soft shot which went straight into the hands of Paul Smith.

Forest showed nothing up front and looked sloppy in midfield, giving the ball away far too often.

Their first goal came out of nowhere when Kris Commons picked up the ball from a throw-in on the left and, from 25 yards out, turned and sent it high towards goal. It looked like the ball was going over the top but suddenly it dipped and went into the back corner of the net.

His second goal was even more spectacular. It started with a good run by Junior Agogo down the right and he put the ball through to Sammy Clingan who sent it on to Commons who was 12 yards out. He turned onto his left foot and chipped the ball over the keeper towards the back post and buried the ball in the back of the net.

Southall came close to getting a third goal when he had everyone beaten and shot from close range but he was closed down by Mark Cousins who made a good save.

And Agogo should have been on target when, from 6 yards out, he rose beautifully to get his head on the end of a cross but sent the ball wide.

It was another goal for Commons in stoppage time when Agogo got away from his man and fired in a shot. Cousins couldn't hold the ball and it came out to Commons who tapped it in from 6 yards for his first half hat-trick.

There were two half-time substitutions for Forest with Nathan Tyson coming on for Harris and Jack Lester replacing Danny Cullip.

Paul Smith had a save to make four minutes into the second half when Marvin Morgan turned, got away easily and his shot was on target, but it was a comfortable save.

Forest were denied a chance when a beautiful cross by Southall went across the 6-yard box but the ball just missed Lester's head and as Tyson ran in he was blocked by Nathan Bowden-Hasse and went down under the challenge.

Forest had another chance when Lester slipped the ball to Tyson in space and he was again clattered by Bowden-Hasse but this time the referee awarded a penalty. Tyson wanted to take it but Agogo stepped up to the spot and sent the ball to the right of the keeper for Forest's fourth goal.

There were cried of 'easy, easy' from the crowd when Forest got their fifth. Lester produced some good work to put the ball through to Southall down the right. He got a low cross in, the ball beat Tyson and fell to Agogo on the far post who beat the keeper and side-footed in from 5 yards out.

Colin Calderwood seemed keen to give all of his strikers a chance and with 20 minutes to go he replaced Gary Holt with Grant Holt. And so, with four strikers on the pitch, Lester dropped back into midfield.

Grant Holt came close with a powerful shot when he whacked the ball towards goal from 18 yards out on the left, but it hit a Yeading player on the way in, to go out for a corner.

Although the game lost some of its impetus, Forest were in total control and, with Agogo after a hat-trick and Tyson desperate to get on the score-sheet, they didn't sit back on their lead.

A packed Main Stand cheered off the home side but the applause was equally as loud for the Yeading players who had put up a battling performance.
