N Ireland 1-1 Portugal
Portugal comfortable in Dublin

Northern Ireland and Portugal drew 1-1 with opposing goals from Feeney and Christiano Ronaldo.

Armando Petit's effort from long range was comfortably saved by Taylor. Then, in the 11th minute, he did very well to block a 30-yard effort from Tiago Mendes.

Northern Ireland won a corner and following Davis's centre into the penalty area, Colin Murdock failed to release a good header even though he escaped from his marker in a second.

In the 19th minute, a Christiano Ronaldo corner was directed to the target by Costinha's header but it was Taylor's great performance to block it. He made another save against Petit's power shot from the edge of the area in the 33rd minute of the match.

In the 40th minute, Tiago found Christiano Ronaldo after a comfortable free-kick and the youngster's deep drive into the box was in the net after Stephan Craigan's failure to block the ball past his own goalkeeper Taylor.

With one minute to go before the break, Steve Jones was not able to equalize in a very comfortable possession at the back post but what he managed to do was only to send the ball to the goalkeeper's arms.

Nuno Gomes, into the game in the second half, broke into the box from the left and tried to find Ronaldo but successful Taylor intercepted the pass.

Following a deep cross from Keith Gillespie, Feeney released a powerful header in the 53rd minute to score the equalizer for his team.

The remaining minutes witnessed no significant threat for either teams and the match ended 1-1.
